Love with Food Subscription Box Review

I love trying new things if I can get a good deal, so when I saw I could try out the Love with Food subscription box for FREE with only $2 shipping? I figured I’d give it a shot! I was NOT disappointed.

Love with Food offers a monthly subscription box containing organic or all-natural snacks. Subscriptions start at $10 a month and each month focuses on a seasonal theme. For every box sold, Love with Food donates a meal to a food bank to help end child hunger. So tasty, all-natural organic snacks at a great price, plus you get to help people!

The box came like this:

Super cute, right? I was so excited when I saw it on the table after work that I couldn’t wait to open it up. May’s theme was Fiesta! Fiesta! due to Cinco de Mayo.

The box came with a pamphlet that included a couple of coupons and a description of each of the snacks, included their dietary classifications such as gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, organic, etc. so you could easily tell which products would be safe to eat for those with allergies. IMG_20150516_162004085_HDRI wanted to try something right away, so I tried the Go Organics hard candies. (What’s funny is I found these exact hard candies at both Christmas Tree Shops AND Home Goods later that week.) The Blood Orange flavor brought me back to my childhood, but I can’t really pinpoint why. My first thought was my Pop-Pop, but in all honesty I think it was my Gran, with her never ending supply of Life-Savers, that was called to memory. The other flavor, Iced Mango Mint, was also really good, despite me not liking the sound of mint and mango together. Also pictured is the Vintage Bee Creamed Honey with Hibiscus, which as of this writing still sits in my kitchen. It’s creamed honey, it’s guaranteed to be delicious!

IMG_20150516_161858365_HDRNext up was the smooze! coconut + pink guava fruit ice, and it was SO GOOD. I love coconut and guava, so this was a can’t lose situation, and it didn’t disappoint! Creamy but not too sweet.

IMG_20150516_161933663_HDRI gave the Inka Crops Inka Corn Salt & Vinegar Corn Snacks to The Hubs, as I’m NOT a fan of salt & vinegar flavor. It tastes like burning! He inhaled them, and said that while they were tart from the vinegar powder, the starch and fat of the corn kernels sort of evened everything out.

IMG_20150516_161906419The PBthins Peanut Butter crackers by Bell Plantation were good, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase them. I love PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter, but these were a bit dry. The flavor was reminiscent of sunflower seeds, which I liked, but wasn’t wowed by.

IMG_20150516_161925224_HDRThe Home Free Mini Lemon Burst Cookies were tasty, but again, not something I would go out of my way to buy. They weren’t particularly mini, either. They were a nice size and had a great crunchy texture, which was surprising for a gluten-free product. (Of course, I have very little experience with textures of gluten-free products, so don’t take my word for it!) I did like the serving size for these, which was three cookies and only 50 calories. Great if you want a little something after dinner but nothing too sweet or too high in calories.

IMG_20150516_161946655_HDRBoth The Hubs and I really liked these Spinach & Kale Corn Chips by The Better Chip! We split the bag since it contained 2 servings. About the same calories as potato chips, but non-GMO and gluten free, and they were really tasty! I was very well behaved and only ate one serving, but I definitely could have eaten the whole bag myself. Self-control is helpful!

IMG_20150516_161913447_HDRI also gave The Hubs the Dick & Jane Baking Company SMART Educational Snacks. They apparently have lessons in English and Spanish on them and are a nut-free all-natural snack. He said the flavor was good, but they were chalky. The only true failure of the box!

I’ve decided to start getting this subscription box and pausing my Graze subscription indefinitely. I like how Graze has all of it’s portions individually laid out for you, but I’m getting a little bored of the selection as of late, and I really liked the variety in this box! Plus I really like the idea of some of my money going to charity. The Hubs is in agreement, especially since I never share my Graze snacks with him!

Have you tried a Love with Food box? What are your thoughts or opinions?

  1. Yes I have and this is the exact box I received. We were not impressed. The only thing in the box that I ate was the Better Chips and I agree…delicious! That’s not enough to justify paying for it each month. 🙂 Glad you liked it!

  2. I am so hooked on Graze!! I look forward to the box every month! It’s very important that you go back after you get a box and rate the snacks they send you, that way you won’t get anything you don’t like. I’ve been VERY curious about the meal food boxes. Let us know if you decide to try any of those!

  3. I could live on go organic hard candies. Lol. (Formerly called go naturally). I’m not too familiar with those flavors, but shoprite carries honey, ginger, honey lemon, pomegranate, Apple, blueberry, and I think blood Orange. I live on the honey ones, myself, but buy the pomegranate and Apple sometimes. As a bonus, they are a local, NJ based company, and the honey flavors make a nice cough drop alternative for those of us who gag when something tastes foul. (Like a child, I know. Lol)

As far as gluten free – crunch is not a problem. Lol. It’s fluff that often gets sacrificed, really.

Sounds like a few cool products to keep my eye out for. 🙂

      1. My mouth gets dry, so I keep a stash in my desk and my purse. Some days I don’t eat any, other days I need something to suck on, and the go organic candies have been my go to since before the name change. Only reason I know. And, I always feel compelled to check where things are made, so it’s a habit. I buy local on honey, too, and jam. Those are things NJ makes plenty of.

I buy about a bag a month of the go candies, more in the winter when the air is dry.

They also make something like go lightly, I think, which are sugar free, I’ve read, but never seen them in stores.
