Yesterday was my 35th birthday and I am PROUD to be 35!
Why?
My life is a hell of a lot better than it was when I was a kid. Sure, there are “chores” and I have to pay bills and sometimes I don’t really wanna adult but the freedom to do what I want to do, how I want to do it is worth it.
I’ve got to live on a budget, yes. Could I change that and get a better paying job? Absolutely. Would I be happier in the corporate world? Most likely not. I’m lucky enough to have a job that I enjoy going to most days. (It has its moments.) This job allows me the flexibility to do the things I love, like blog here with you guys. It allows me to go to walking group on Sundays almost every week, leave early for Adventure Runs one Thursday a month, and even better, it allows me to be who I am.

Yes, me. The now 35-year-old-woman who can cuss like a sailor, doesn’t take shit from anybody, sometimes wears a Baby Groot t-shirt and can turn almost any phrase into a sexual euphemism by tone of voice alone (it’s a SKILL, people).
I’ve also reached the point in my life where I’m not worried about what people think of me. I try to live the best life I can with what I’ve got, and my life philosophy can be summed up into four words: Don’t Be A Dick. I do the best I can do to follow this life path, and for the most part it works for me. Don’t preach, be the example. Treat others how you’d like to be treated, EVEN IF THEY DON’T TREAT YOU THAT WAY. Be the bigger person, always.
So no, this isn’t the 6th anniversary of my 29th birthday, because that’s bullshit.
I AM THIRTY FIVE YEARS OLD, AND IT’S AWESOME!

I can still play skeeball with the best of them!
Looks like you had lots of fun on your birthday!! Yay!!!

Well… Happy belated birthday, for starters!
Zoltar… awesome! Some memories of drinking games with Zoltar (imagine 10 drunk guys shouting “your wish is granted!” and you’ll get some idea…).
35 is a great age. Trust me, in a few years, you’ll agree completely. I used to work with a guy, around 65 at the time, would always say “I don’t mind getting ‘older,’ as long as I don’t get ‘old.'” Some real truth to that.
Of course, my best friend and I are also fond of saying “You’re only young once, but you can be immature forever!”
Happy birthday…
🙂

I am exactly twice your age! (Now I should always be able to remember how old you are.) You’ve got
the absolute perfect idea. Do what you love and you’ll be the happier for it. I don’t know why our culture
worries to much about aging. Though 70 hurts a bit more than 35 for me! How fitting that just yesterday I
ordered two cakes from Shindigz for your grandmother’s birthday . . . . . Salted Chocolate Caramel and
Blackberry Lime. You can start pondering which flavor you want until you get here in June. (And yes, slimmer
slices of each are allowable also.)
